Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix (Arabic Edition) (Harry Potter (Arabic)) Review
Average Reviews:
(More customer reviews)This is not a review of the book itself -- I'm sure lots of people have already done that. The reason I bought this product was to improve my reading fluency in Arabic. I've been studying Arabic for about 3 years now, but its very hard to find interesting reading material. And grammatically Arabic is so different from English that its hard to get the knack of understanding the sentences, even if you know all the words.
That's where this book came in. At 708 pages, its certainly plenty of practice. There's tons of vocabulary (although some of it is fairly useless -- werewolves and goblins and 10 kinds of wood for making wands... but most is vocabulary you'll see elsewhere). The translation seems coherent and grammatical to me (not that I'm an expert).
I will say that I enjoyed this book (Harry Potter 5) MUCH more than Harry Potter 1, which was an awful translation and made no attempt to be faithful to the nuances or imagery of JK Rowling's language. This translation still falls short of the charm of the original, but its quite readable.
